Sunday May 29 was a big day at the NSW Softball Centre for the finals of the 2016 Winter League and also the finals of the Development Leagues.
The Winter League season whilst shorter than in previous years still produced some outstanding Softball and the competition close between the teams. 2 finals were held with the Cup Final being won by Glenmore Phantoms 4 – 1 in a tight game against Wanderers. In the main final Hawks and Sharks went head to head and they didn’t disappoint the crowd with some exciting Softball, the Hawks eventual winners 10 – 9.

The Development League Girl’s Final was a close battle between Norwest Wolves and Glenmore Park Phantoms with the bottom of the 6th inning proving the decider with Norwest scoring 3 runs to seal the game 12 – 9.

4 teams contested the Boy’s Development League in 2016 and all 4 had a chance of taking out the title. Southern Demons were the first to drop out of the race after going down to Red. Penrith went straight through to the final and Red beat Black to join Penrith in the decider. In the final Penrith were dominant winning 17 – 1 to become the 2016 Development League Champions.
