U12 State Championship Preview

U12 State Championship Preview

Excitement is building as we only have 2 days until the U12s take to the diamonds for the 2020 U12 State Championship at Penrith.

Defending champions Manly Warringah (females) and Macarthur (males) will be looking for the form they showed in 2019 to again be one of the favourites to take the state title.

The male competition sees 7 teams vying for the title.  Playing on their home ground, Penrith City will be looking to end Macarthur’s 5 year winning streak in the male division. It is great to see Newcastle back in the championship after not playing for the past 2 years and with the return of Central Coast, Cumberland Nepean, Georges River and Southern Districts the competition will be a tight one.

Over the past 10 years Manly Warringah has won 5 of the championships but Cumberland Nepean, Hornsby, North Shore and Penrith City know what it takes to win the title with a title in the 10 years. Macarthur and Southern Districts will be after their first title since the inception of the event.

The challenge for organisers will be maintaining the Public Health Orders of only 500 people allowed at the event. Public Health Order.

Softball NSW acknowledge and appreciate the efforts that have gone into preparing teams for this event especially the commitment of the player’s families for many months. Softball NSW will be monitoring the 500 limit and ask our Softball Family to assist in only having one person accompany the players to the event. We appreciate your understanding in what has been a very challenging year.

Other sporting events have been attended by authorities and significant fines have been brought down on the sporting associations that were not adhering to the Public Health Order and we certainly do not want this to happen to Softball.

Keep up to date with all the latest news and information on the State Championships.
