Softball NSW welcomes the recent release of the National Principles for Sport and Recreation by the Federal Government and the National Cabinet.
Following Friday’s meeting of the National Cabinet, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced 15 principles for the resumption of sport and recreation activities. SNSW Chief Executive Daniel Rushworth said “SNSW welcomes the release of the National Principles for Sport, and thanks the Prime Minister and the National Cabinet for clearly advising the pathway to a return for grassroots sport.”
Softball NSW will continue to monitor any changes that may be made by the NSW Government in relation to the NSW Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020 which is currently preventing sport from being conducted and expires at midnight on 29 June 2020.
Whilst the exact date of return to training and competition relies on the lifting of Government restrictions, Softball NSW, the Board and Affiliates will be working on a series of scenarios and competition formats that is focused on providing the best Softball outcomes for all Affiliates and participants.
Rushworth added “We will continue to work collaboratively with our Affiliates and remain focused in working with the NSW Office of Sport and the NSW Government as we determine how and when Softball will resume, considering the numerous restrictions in place”.
“The welfare as well as the physical and mental health of all volunteers, players, officials and staff is of the utmost importance, and we will continue to strongly encourage every member of our community to adhere to COVID-19 restrictions at all times.” Rushworth advised.
The AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment, which contains the 15 National Principles for Sport and Recreation, is available here.
SNSW along with Softball Australia are proud to work with the Australian Government, and encourages all Softball participants to download and use the COVIDSafe app. The app is available to download on the Apple App store and Google Play.
