It has taken 22 years but the NSW Open Men has won the John Reid Shield for the 2nd time in its history.
The Blue Bloods took on defending champions ACT in todays final and put the first runs on the board in the 2nd innings before ACT hit back in the top of the 3rd. NSW then went ahead in the bottom of the 3rd and then a home run in the 4th by Ryan Tranter put the Blues 2 runs ahead. ACT clawed back another run in the top of the 5th. Going into the top of the 7th ACT needed to score to draw and with their top of their line up, including 2 of the worlds top batters in Winter and Kirkpatrick, stepping up to the plate. With 2 down and a runner on 2 Andrew Kirkpatrick faced off with pitcher Harri Peters to determine the result, a strikeout was Peters answer and the long awaited win was NSWs. A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS BOYS your patience and hard work has been rewarded.
