North Shore are the 2017 U19 Women’s State Champions !!!
The Championship proved to be any bodies with many games going down to the wire.
After the rounds the top teams in each pool emerged those being Penrith City and Hornsby who had to watch the 2nd v 3rd games to see who they would play for a place in the final. North Shore who finished 2nd in their pool defeated Sutherland whilst Manly Warringah defeated Macarthur to move through to the next stage.
North Shore defeated Penrith City 9 – 3 and on Diamond 2 in a very close games Manly Warringah ran out winners over Hornsby 4 – 2 to set the stage for an exciting final.
North Shore went to a very comfortable lead 7 – 1 leading into the final innings but Manly Warringah weren’t finished and started to pile on the runs in the bottom of the inning with some powerful hitting but couldn’t quite manage enough runs to match the 7 runs of North Shore going down 7 – 5.
Congratulations to North Shore on winning the title for the 19th time since 1977 and their first since 2012.
