Warringah Crowned Champions at 2022 U16 Blue Blaze

Published Wed 28 Sep 2022

The three-year wait was finally over, with the Blue Blaze tournament making a return yesterday. Originally scheduled to be held at Blacktown International Sportspark, the event was moved to Cumberland Nepean Softball Association's International Peace Park at Seven Hills following wet weather earlier this week. Six clubs from around the state as well as ACT's Canberra Pride had signed up to participate.

Scheduled over three days with the first day featuring the Fully Loaded format while the remainder of the event would have Fast Pitch games, the tournament ended up with just a day's play before last night's storms led to its cancellation earlier today. However, a full day of Fully Loaded games yesterday did ensure that all seven clubs played six games each, with the team finishing at the top at the end of the day taking the honours. With four wins and two drawn games, Warringah were crowned champions of the tournament, followed closely by Kissing Point who finished runners-up.

Champions – Warringah

Runners-Up Kissing Point

3rd Place – Allsorts

4th Place – Peninsula

5th Place – Pittwater

6th Place – Canberra Pride

7th Place – Glenmore Park Phantoms

Softball NSW would like to thank Cumberland Nepean Softball Association for its timely assistance in hosting the event at International Peace Park following a last-minute rescheduling. Acknowledgements go out to the Association's President Krissi Travers as well as Andrew Polaschek for their help in ensuring the diamonds were in a suitable condition to host as many games as possible before the wet weather took over.
