Softball NSW is saddened to note the passing away of umpire Jimmy Long. He was 73.

A veteran umpire who began over three decades ago at Western Districts Softball Association, Jimmy achieved level 3 Accreditation in umpiring and went on to offer his services at all levels including State Championships, State and Waratah Leagues, Club Competitions, Schools, Gala Days and Masters. He was also passionately involved in training and mentoring many umpires over the years.

His helpful nature is fondly remembered by everyone in the sport in NSW. Softball NSW would like to extend our sincerest condolences and thoughts to Jimmy's family, friends and everyone who knew him.

Jimmy Long's funeral will be held on July 11 at Pinegrove Memorial Park, North Chapel. His family requests everyone to wear bright colours or Softball shirts for the ceremony.
