Published Wed 04 May 2022
Softball NSW is excited to announce Stuart Clark as its new Chief Executive Officer effective Monday 9th May 2022.
Stuart brings a wealth of experience and expertise from his time at the NSW Rugby League where he was the Chief Operating Officer, and the Sydney Sixers as its inaugural General Manger during the inception of the Big Bash League where his time with them was 'a remarkable success where he was highly innovative'. Stuart is also a highly respected former Australian Cricket Player with an impeccable record, and has also completed his Master of Commerce, majoring in Finance as well as a degree in law from the University of Sydney.
President of Softball NSW Chris Hall said, “Stuart was a great choice for our organisation and brings a huge amount of commercial expertise from his time in sport both as a player and administrator. After conducting a thorough and exhaustive search, the Board of Softball NSW were keen to get Stuart on board. He brings many attributes our organisation requires, and we are keen for him to implement his vast experience into our organisation. Stuart’s appointment is a new beginning for Softball”.
Softball NSW has just under 7000 participants in NSW and is looking to increase its participation across the state exponentially in the coming years. This announcement signals a new beginning for Softball in NSW with the aim to speed up our strategic implementation & grow our sport. We will soon issue invitations to our 'Project 10,000 Conference' which aims at covering discussions around growing our member base to 10,000 members by 2027. Stuart will play a key role in that conference. We will also be pursuing more commercial opportunities to drive our revenue streams and onboard corporate assistance to promote our sport at every opportunity.
Stuart's media and commentary commitments will continue as they not only support the profile of sport in general, but also potentially provide Softball NSW with the opportunity for broader engagement and better connectivity with other sports - an essential factor in driving overall inclusion and growth of our sport.
Stuart said, “I am really looking forward to getting my feet under the desk and working with the Softball NSW Board and the current management team. Every sport is facing challenges in the post-pandemic world and we will be looking to work closely with Softball Australia, our stakeholders and most importantly our volunteers to implement new strategies to grow and enhance the game. I am a big believer in working with our volunteers who understand the real issues at hand.” Stuart is also keen to engage with all Associations to get a real understanding of their needs and their specific issues.
Stuart’s first engagement will be the 2022 Under 10 State Championships scheduled on the 14th and 15th of May at Blacktown International Sportspark, where we are expected to see the stars of the future deliver their skills and have a lot of fun. Entry to this event is free, so we encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the excitement of the games over the weekend.
