Softball NSW to host the 2022/23 Over 35 National Championships

Published Mon 04 Jul 2022

Following Softball Australia's announcement of the dates and hosts for the 2022/23 National Championships earlier this afternoon, Softball NSW is pleased to confirm that the Over 35 Men's and Women's National Championships will be hosted at Blacktown International Sportspark from July 6 to 9, 2023

The inaugural edition of the Over 35 National Championships was hosted by Softball Queensland last month, with NSW clinching both titles.

Softball NSW CEO Stuart Clark shared his joy in relation to the announcement: "We are really excited about hosting the upcoming Over 35 Softball National Championships at Blacktown International Sportspark. Blacktown International Sportspark has enjoyed a long and illustrious history of hosting some of the best softball tournaments in Australia."

"Last week was a great start for the inaugural Over 35 National Championships. It was even better as a proud New South Welshman, to see NSW win both male and female titles. The overall success and positive feedback we received further affirm that this tournament will become bigger and better each and every year," he further added.

After conducting an internal review of the Performance area and talent identification process, Softball Australia has also withdrawn the Under 14 National Championship from the schedule. In its place, Softball Australia will work with States and Territories to identify talented Under 14 athletes from around the country and bring them into a National Camp environment, that will focus on skills development, game sense, and culture.

The Under 14 National Camps will cater to both male and female athletes, and be run in addition to the state-based Performance Camps, announced earlier this year. The 2023 Under 14s Camp will be held in Queensland, with more details to be communicated as they become available.

More details in relation to the Over 35 National Championships will be made available in due course of time.
