Geoff Kelly & his sons
When was the first time your father inspired you to take up softball?
Aiden: My old man actually took up playing a grade local comp after watching us kids run around having a ball playing T-ball, was one of the best parts of our day seeing dad try to mix it with some of Orange's best at the time with no training and no experience.
Mitchell: Dad inspired me to play softball when I was a kid as he played without any experience and had fun.
What’s one thing about each other’s game that you’re envious of?
Geoff: I wish I was still as fit as the two of them, then I’d put it all over them haha!
Aiden: I admire dad's ability to not get flustered in tight situations, cool and collected all game.
Mitchell: When dad makes a mistake in the field, he always laughs it off even in tight situations.
What’s the best part about being a father/son duo in softball?
Geoff: Playing together and the banter/stirring on the field and training!
Aiden: I feel like the duo holds us both accountable, to break a stigma of bias or conflict of interest we both work really hard to make it on our own merit. We also have shared a lot of amazing memories together good and bad and seen some awesome places in Australia together due to our sport.
Mitchell: The best part would be learning new skills and techniques and being able to travel to different places.
What’s one thing about your sons' playing that has impressed you the most?
Geoff: Aiden's leadership, resilience and enjoyment for the sport. Mitchell’s quiet, casual attitude but has got some real talent.
What's one skill that you’d love to pick up from your father?
Mitchell: His knowledge of the game, as some of the rules he comes up with I’ve never heard of before.
