COACHING APPOINTMENT: PETER RAINER – NSW OPEN MEN
Published Mon 05 Jul 2021
Peter Rainer has been appointed as Head Coach of the NSW Open Men’s team for 2022 & 2023. He shares his insights on coaching as well as playing at this level.
What does it mean to you to be appointed as the Head Coach of the NSW Open Men’s team?
Enormous Honor and Privilege to Head Coach the Open Men’s Team, to me the “Pinnacle” of NSW coaching.
What excited you most about your appointment?
Looking forward to the next two years working with the established players that have been in the side for some time and the progression and development of up-and-coming players that could force their way into the side at some stage over the coming years.
What should potential athletes expect upon entering the Open Men’s program?
Looking forward to, with the help of the coaching staff, take this side to the next level of fitness, nutrition and TEAM well-being. Hard work on the training field, not just for the lead up to the 2021 Nationals, continuing the processes throughout 2022 to the Nationals that year also.
What advice can you give to aspiring coaches who hope to coach at this level one day?
Continue to chase coaching dreams and aspirations. Always be willing to keep learning from others, take in and coach a style that suits you. Don’t be afraid to try something new, you never know where it might lead you.
Softball NSW would like to congratulate Peter on his appointment. We know he will do a fantastic job.
