COACHING APPOINTMENT: DARRIN CRISP – NSW UNDER 18 GIRLS

Published Wed 07 Jul 2021

Darrin Crisp has been appointed as Head Coach of the NSW Under 18 Girls' team for 2022 & 2023. He shares his insights on coaching as well as playing at this level.

What does it mean to you to be appointed as the Head Coach of the NSW Under 18 Girls' team?

I’m so excited about coaching at this age group again the girls are so committed and eager to learn new skills.

What excited you most about your appointment?

What excites me is that you can set these players up for the rest of their softball careers by teaching them the skills and discipline they need and hopefully they move up into the senior levels or get scouted by college teams from the USA.

What should potential athletes expect upon entering the Under 18 Girls' program?

The athletes should expect hard work and to learn skills and discipline needed to aspire to the senior levels and be rewarded for their hard work, to be treated with respect.

What advice can you give to aspiring coaches who hope to coach at this level one day?

My advice is to share with other coaches and always learn new things, don’t give up if they get knocked back keep applying it took me a while to get my first coaching appointment and knock back after I coached for NSW.

Softball NSW would like to congratulate Darrin on his appointment. We know he will do a fantastic job.
