2022 Blue Blaze - Venue Update

Published Mon 26 Sep 2022

Following an assessment of the weather forecast for the remainder of the week, Softball NSW would like to confirm that the 2022 Under 16 Blue Blaze tournament will be moved from Blacktown International Sportspark to International Peace Park, Seven Hills. The dirt infields at Blacktown are still very soft from the weekend, and once the rain starts this week, we will have a better chance for continued play on the grass compared to the dirt. Because of this, the tournament's venue has been changed.

Because of the move to International Peace Park (a venue that has no diamond lights), the tournament draw has been accordingly modified to suit daylight hours. The changes include:

  • No change to Tuesday with the exception of the removal of the Fully Loaded Final. All teams will still play each other once, and this section of the Tournament will be first past the post
  • Slight rearrangements to Wednesday and Thursday to make the draw even, with the removal of the late timeslots. The Fast Pitch Tournament will now have a straight 1st vs. 2nd Grand Final on Thursday afternoon (everyone will have played everyone once)
  • 9:00 am start remains the same on Tuesday, with games now commencing at 8:30 am on Wednesday and Thursday
