2021 SOFTBALL NSW UNDER 14 TRI SERIES – DAY 1 RECAP

SLAMMERS TAKE THE DOUBLE!

After disappointment with the cancellation of the Interstate Challenge in Lismore, it was fantastic to see our Under 14 Country and Metro teams out on the diamond today to kick start the 2021 Under 14 Tri Series.

With a Fully Loaded play format, games were fast and action-packed. The developmental opportunities for our players and officials were plentiful, and everyone enjoyed the long but game-heavy day.

The evening ended with our Girls and Boys Grand Finals, with both games seeing the Metro Strikers take on the Metro Slammers. In the Girls Final, it was neck and neck between the two teams right until the very last innings, but a crucial double play and a strike out to end the game secured victory for the Slammers 12 runs to 9. Conversely in the Boys Final, the Metro Slammers took an early lead, and with strong pitching from the circle and a tight defensive unit in the field, the Strikers couldn’t catch up going down 1 run to 12.

Congratulations to all of the teams for such a successful first day of competition! And a particular congratulations to the Girls and Boys Metro Slammers teams for taking out both Fully Loaded Tournament Grand Finals.

Tomorrow will see the start of the Fastpitch Tournament for the Tri Series, with games commencing from 9:00am. We encourage all members of our Softball community and the general public to attend the event and cheer on our teams; however, for those that cannot make it in person, all games scheduled on Diamond 1 will be livestreamed through the Softball NSW Facebook page. Be sure to tune in then and on Friday morning to see the next installment of Finals for the event!
