Meet the new Softball NSW Board

At the 2016 SNSW AGM held on Sunday September 18 a new Board was elected so let’s meet them.

Frances Crampton AM – President

A very experienced and respected sports administrator with a strong HP background. Frances has been acknowledged with Life Membership of ASSA, Gymnastics NSW, Gymnastics Australia, Distinction Award from Sports Council for Disabled, Order of Merit from NSWOC, Hon Member of Golf NSW, OAM for services to Gymnastics and an AM for services to sport.

A previous PE teacher and coach of Softball, Production Manager Sydney Olympics. Frances has been involved at  5 Olympics and 5 Commonwealth Games. Frances is a Sport Consultant and Civil Celebrant. Frances was elected on the Softball NSW Board in 2012 and became President in 2015.

Crampton

 Bruce McCahon – Vice President

Became involved in Softball in the 1980’s when his children began playing T Ball. Bruce is a Level 6 ISF Certified Umpire and was SNSW Umpires Association Deputy UIC 2005 to 2009. Member of the National Umpiring Committee 2005 to 2010 Foundation member and current President CVD Bashers Softball Club. Treasurer Southern Districts Softball Association 1992 to 2002. President Southern Districts Softball Association 2002 to 2016. SNSW Board Member 2005 to present. Bruce is a Bookkeeper and CEO NSW Water Ski Federation.

 McCahon

 Loretta Watts – Finance Director

Loretta has been involved in softball for 40 years as a player, coach and official. Started at Western Districts and have been with PCSA since inception. Loretta has held numerous PCSA Executive roles including President, Treasurer and Registrar. Current PCSA Treasurer.

Loretta has a Bachelor of Commerce – Business majoring in Accounting/HR and is a Fellow with the Institute of Public Accountants and Institute of Financial Accountants. Loretta has experience in Financial services, Franchising, Manufacturing and Not for Profit and is also a Board Member of Mount Saint Trust. Loretta is the Chief Finance Manager at Odyessy House.

 Watts

Christine Halpin – Board Member

Christine has been involved in Softball since 1993. Starting off as a parent, then got involved as a Club Secretary. Christine has held a number of committee positions both at club and association level since 1995 including President of Newcastle and District Softball Association. Currently holds qualifications for coaching, scoring & umpiring and Level 1 Sports Administration. SNSW Board Member since 2015. Chris is a Personal Assistant at V2 Mining.

 Halpin

 Dianne McGowen – Board Member

Started playing softball in the early 70’s at Cumberland Nepan, playing for Blacktown Workers. At 16  formed the Grantham High Softball team which become Toongabbie League Softball Club when she secured financial sponsorship the following season.

Di moved to Lismore in 1980 and started coaching Richmond River High School which become Lismore Workers Softball Club in 1982. Since being involved in FNCS, I have taken on various positions on the Executive including President and Secretary. Di was awarded life membership to Lismore Workers Softball Club in 1993 and life membership to Far North Coast Softball Association in 2007.

Di was appointed as the “Convenor” for the Northern Country Divisional Softball by SNSW.  Involved in all accepts of the game – coach, scorer, umpire and administrator. Di is an Inventory Control Officer – Masters Home Improvement Ballina.

 McGowen

 Craig Oberg – Board Member

Craig has been involved in Softball for over 30 years having been involved as a player, coach, umpire and administrator. Craig has held various positions at club and association level most recently been the President of Sutherland Shire Softball Association for the past 7 years and on their Board for the past 15 years. Craig has ran various small businesses and has been in IT for 35+ years. Craig has completed a Masters of Business Administration and is the Datacentre Manager at University of NSW.

 Oberg

 Nathan Organ – Board Member

Nathan played baseball when younger including a tour in Japan. Nathan has coached club and association teams for a number of years including Manly U15 development program.

Worked in IT for over 20 years specialising in Application hosting architecture and IT transformation.

Founded and currently president of Sydney Mountain Bike Riders and representing Mountain Bike Australia for NSW. Nathan regularly run kids school holiday camps working with children between 6 and 16 years old

Nathan is an IT Manager.
