Manly Warringah has defeated Sutherland 7 – 1 in the final of the 2016 U17 State Championship played at Macarthur over the weekend.
12 female teams played the championship spilt into 2 pools where Manly Warringah and Hornsby came out on top after the rounds. Both teams had to wait to see who they would face in the all important game to go into the final with North Shore playing Penrith City and Sutherland taking on Macarthur. Hornsby then played Sutherland and Manly Warringah played North Shore to see who move into the final. Manly Warringah defeated North Shore 6 – 2 whilst Sutherland defeated Hornsby 3 – 1 and the scene was set for an exciting final.
In the final the game was close in the first 2 innings but then Manly showed their hitting power and ran away with the game 7 – 1 despite a courageous fightback by Sutherland in the last innings.
