Hits a plenty for the Blue Bloods on Day 4

The U18 Men’s Team has continued to show they are the team to beat at the 2020 Australian U18 Men’s Championship repeating day three’s efforts with another 31 safe hits in only 7 innings played.

ACT was the Blue Bloods first game of the day and before ACT knew it NSW were 4 runs ahead in the 1st after hits to Jeremy Garland, Zane Howarth, Josh Banks (double), Zac Roberts and a home run to Boston Lowe. ACT fought back with 2 runs in the bottom of the innings.

Another 5 runs came in in the 2nd with a home run from Josh Banks as well as hits to Ethan Field, Boston Lowe and a triple from Hayden Shaw. The 3rd saw another 5 across the plate with Josh Banks hitting his 2nd home run of the game supported by Boston Lowe and Hayden Shaw with doubles.

Jeremy Garland hit a home run in the 4th and Ethan Field a single to score another run taking the final score to 15 – 2.

Blake Hunter pitched the entire game conceding only 2 hits and striking out 8 batters in the 4 innings played.

Game 2 against Queensland was all set to test the Blue Bloods but it was once again time for the boys to start the game with a bang and Hayden Shaw didn’t disappoint with a Home Run in the 1st innings with Ethan Field hitting a single for the first 3 runs of the game.

The bats exploded in the 2nd innings with 14 runs across the plate and going through the lineup twice. Doubles to Tyler Kelly (single), Jeremy Garland and Boston Lowe as well as 2 hits singles each to Ethan Field, Hayden Shaw and Caden Keed made up the runs and took the score to 17 – 0 going into the 3rd innings.

Hayden Shaw singled to go 4 from 4 in the game, Tyler Kelly put one over the fence, Jeremy Garland contributed with a double and Boston Lowe a single. Final score 21 – 1.

The team has now score 120 runs in just 32 innings with only 12 against.

The U18 Men’s round games continue for the next two days before finals are played between the top three teams in the evening on Saturday (14 December).
