Academies

The Regional Academies (RASi) program is officially recognised as part of the Softball NSW State Pathway. Working alongside our Under 14 State program, the Academies are an integral part of the pathway for both players, coaches, and other team officials.

Softball NSW provides support and resources to Academies to assist in the following:

  • Provide a pre-elite environment for the athletes
  • Give access to quality services and programs through the academy year
  • Prepare athletes for entry into the Under 16 State Team
  • Provide first-hand coaching experience, to enhance and develop coaching skills
  • Provide technical education

The Academy Softball Program provides high performance training opportunities for talented young athletes in the Northern and Southern Regions of NSW. The program provides opportunities for athletes in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development, preparing athletes for the next level of elite sport representation. With an eye to the future, the Academy program assists an athletes preparation into the Softball NSW State Team Program.

The association catchement areas for each academy are as follows:

Northern Academy:

  • Manly Warringah Softball Association
  • North Shore District Softball Association
  • Hornsby District Softball Association

Southern Academy:

  • Georges River Softball Association
  • Sutherland Shire Softball Association

The Academy program is open to both boys and girls registered within the above associations. Please see below information regarding criteria:

Program Period: November - July 2025

Age: Turning 13-16 in 2025 (Born between 2009-2012)

The Program comprises of technical development, athlete education, sports science, fitness elements and personal development opportunities for all academy athletes. As stated above, The Program aims to prepare athletes for progression to higher levels of individual performance and achievement, specifically selection into Junior State and National squads.
