The Georges River Men’s Team are State Champions for the 2nd year in a row defeating Macarthur in the Final of the Open Men’s State Championship.
The River Boys had to do it the hard way finishing 3rd after the rounds they then had to face a strong Cumberland Nepean outfit who had only dropped 1 game in the rounds and beat the Georges River Team in the first game of the weekend 2-1.
Cumberland went down to Georges River 4-1 but held their heads high after their highest placed finish at Open Mens.
The final was exciting with the game seesawing right up until the final batter and proved to be one of the best games seen this year. The Georges River Team held on to win 6 – 5 to take out the title.
