Softball NSW has been closely monitoring information and recent advice as provided by the Federal and NSW Governments in relation to the coronavirus and its management of containment.
With that information in hand we can now advise the following events have now been cancelled or postponed due to either international teams no longer attending due to the mandatory 14 day self-isolation of new overseas arrivals into Australia from Monday 16th March (BJIC), or the event would not be able to be delivered due to breaching the new large group gathering bans of over 500 people.
- Cancelled– 2020 Blacktown Junior International Challenge BISP March 21-22
- Postponed-2020 Softball NSW State 10’s Championships International Peace Park March 28-29
- Postponed-2020 Winter League & Development League
As the events are now cancelled or postponed due to government-imposed bans, we will work with the appropriate key stakeholders to discuss the alternative dates for the SNSW 10’s Championships. We can advise that further advice will be released on Monday April 6th for this event. We also acknowledge that given the open-ended pandemic at hand, a timeframe on rescheduling is very difficult to provide with the unknown variables. Our decision-making process on this must and will remain fluid.
Decisions in relation to other future events managed by Softball NSW will be made in due course. We will continue to be communicative to our community in sharing updates and information as quickly as possible.
The ongoing implications of this situation and other possible adjustments, as well as future cancellation or postponement of events and competitions is far from ideal from an athlete and organisation point of view, however, the health of our membership and their families is paramount.
Further information in relation to localised Softball will be provided within the next 24 hours.
