Carol Deegan is the latest person to be inducted into the Softball NSW Hall of Fame with a presentation in front of players at the NSW Schools Championship at Blacktown International Sportspark where Carol coaches the Combined Catholic Team.
Carol Deegan (Selem) represented Australia from 1975 until 1983 playing in the 1978 World Championship in El Salvador and then the 1982 World Championship in Taiwan. Carol was regarded as one of the leading 2nd Basemen in the world during this time and also held the record for the most stolen bases at World Championships.
Carol represented NSW from 1971 – 1985 at the Open Women’s level. Carol also coached NSW teams.
Carol was inducted into the Softball Australia Hall of Fame in 1988.
Sydney Softball Association was Carol’s home affiliate where she played for the Arncliffe Scots Club.
