Day 1 of the 2019 Australian Championships saw the NSW Blue Blood Teams get off to a great start.
The NSW Firestars started their defence of the Gilleys Shield with wins against ACT 6-0 then a huge win against Victoria 15-1. The senior players led from the front with Stacey Porter, Taylah Tsitsikronis, Rachel Lack (Home Run), Stacey McManus and Shannon Keevers all coming up with hits. The U17 Teams, also defending their titles each had 2 wins.
The U17 Men had a close 4-3 win against Victoria in a tie breaker then followed that win with a convincing 16-0 win over South Australia. In his 3rd Australian Championship Jeremy Garland hit 2 home runs on day 1. The U17 Women fought hard for their 2 wins on day 1 with a 1-0 win over Queensland and and then a 3-2 win over Victoria.
