The 10th Blacktown Junior International Challenge got underway after an Opening Ceremony which saw all teams together for the first time and a special welcome to the Garuda Indonesian Team participating for the first time.
Players read an oath and to committed to fair play and sportsmanship during the event.
All Japanese Teams performed exceptionally well as in previous years and the Garuda Team held their own against all teams.
For Metro Orange Boys the Highlight was drawing 7 – 7 with Japan Phenix and for Country Gold Girls a draw with Metro Green showed they up for the challenge.
An adults/kids game showcased the skills of the coaches of each of the teams and also showed that the young Japanese siblings have a great future.
Day 2 will see more exciting games finishing the day with a celebration of the 10 years of the BJIC.
