Blacktown Ablaze in Blue!

Blacktown Ablaze in Blue!

Blue Blaze, the annual Softball NSW Youth Festival, is a developmental competition throughout the Term3/4 School Holiday period. The event caters for both girls’ and boys’ divisions in the 13’s 15’s and 18’s categories.

The competition has been a staple of the Softball NSW Calendar since inception in 2015. Blue Blaze continues to provide a great competitive platform for not only NSW athletes but those from a far too. The 2019 edition sees teams entered from New Zealand and the Australian Capital Territory.

The Blue Blaze Girls categories have already commenced at Blacktown International Sportspark, with the 18’s leading off on Monday night in favorable conditions. With great performances all round, the girl’s kept the spectators on the edge of their seats!

Round 1 Results:

Norwest Wolves 5 defeated Hills 4

ISA NZ White 7 defeated Bombers White 4

Hit Squad 9 defeated ISA NZ Black 0

Bombers 2 defeated Sweet Heat 1

The opening evening provided plenty of runs, fun, fierce pitching and acrobatic catching, day two did not disappoint with the addition of the 13’s and 15’s divisions also getting in on the action. With all 20 teams competing the event is in full swing!

The players were enjoying themselves across the diamonds and in the stands the umpires got in on the action themselves too with some fantastic dance moves following a stray pitch into an umpires’ leg. Softball NSW must thank all our hard-working umpires in providing their time in this essential developmental event.

With fantastic weather conditions allowing for top class Softball, a large-vocal crowd converged at Blacktown International Sportspark to support the many teams here today. From fantastic displays of batting, to quick handed fielding to outstanding pitching, with games being officiated by umpires from 13 years old up to 77 years of age everyone was treated to a fantastic day of softball.

With smiles abound and great technical ability on show, day three will be eagerly anticipated. If you are looking for an activity that is action packed, fun and full of positive energy, why not come down and join the Blue Blaze at Blacktown International Sportspark, first pitch at 9am and last games concluding at 7.30pm each day. With Free entry it’s an easy decision!
