Further to the advice supplied on March 17, Softball NSW is now recommending to all Associations and Members to cease/cancel all scheduled Softball participation and activity for the foreseeable future given the continuing COVID-19 Pandemic escalation.
The health and safety of our participants, volunteers and staff are at the forefront of the organisation and as such, their well-being continues to dictate any decision made by Softball New South Wales.
This is an unprecedented situation and moving in line with Softball Australia’s recent decision as the national body of the sport, the recommendation is warranted to assist in limiting the spread of COVID-19.
Following this unique situation, the AIS have released a document on the public’s Mental Health and Well-Being during this challenging time, the information is available here.
During this time, Softball NSW and Softball Australia are encouraging the softball community to follow public health information and procedures regarding containment of the spread of COVID-19, from the World Health Organisation, Australian Federal and State Governments, State Health Organisations and State Governing Bodies.
A reminder the Australian Federal Government has advised against non-essential gatherings of over 500 people outdoors and over 100 people indoors.
Although previous Softball NSW recommendations provided guidance on participating with these government sanctions, the position of the organisation has now shifted, and recommendations are to cease all Softball participation and activity.
As advised on March 16th, Softball NSW will announce further details in relation to reschedule of events from April 6th.
Additional information in relation to all Association Softball participation will be made in due course.
With the safety and wellbeing of members and their families at the forefront of our concerns, we encourage all to stay continually updated with the information provided through NSW Health;
