|We have watched in shock and disbelief at the recent fire tragedies that have swept and engulfed large portions of NSW and our surrounding states over the past months and weeks.|
This terrifying time whilst not over, has brought about a significant sense of unity between communities to support their fellow Australians. There is no better example shown, then by the continual display of unbreakable spirit, dedication and bravery in which our resilient firefighters and emergency workers have tackled this. They are truly heroes and our thanks alone will never be enough in recognising their outstanding efforts in saving lives and communities.
We also acknowledge the significant grief and unwanted turmoil that these impacted communities are dealing with and will be looking to support them as best possible through various initiatives. Recovery from the bushfires is such an ongoing and complex issue that communities will be struggling for months and possibly years to come. Both Softball NSW and Softball Australia will be supporting and raising much needed funds for the heroes and those impacted communities.
Softball NSW, in supporting the Softball community and our colleagues at Softball ACT, made the offer to host the National Open Men’s Championships and Boys 14 Regional Championships here at Blacktown International Sportspark. This was due to the fires and subsequent smoke have rendered the air quality to the highest levels of danger, therefore forcing relocation or cancellation.
With the support of Softball ACT and Softball Australia we can confirm that the event will now be held in Blacktown commencing on Sunday January 12 through to Saturday January 18.
Softball NSW will be donating 50% of all ticket sales to the NSW Rural Fire Service for the following events at Blacktown International Sportspark;
· 2020 National Open Men’s & 14 Regionals Championships Jan 12-18 (Schedule Open Men’s) (Schedule 14 Boys)
· 2020 National Women’s 18 Championships Jan 19-25 (Schedule)

With theses events, we will see some of the finest athletes our game can offer, compete for a national championship and possible national selection, but also more importantly we encourage our community to attend these events and have an enjoyable experience at this very difficult time and in a small way support those that very much need it.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Blacktown International Sportspark in the coming days
