Open Women’s State Championship Preview

This weekend Blacktown International Sportspark welcomes the 2019 Open Women’s State Championships once again. First Pitch is scheduled from 10am on Saturday 5th October and the Grand Final scheduled for Monday 7th at 5pm. The Championships are made up of 10 association teams. With the best players from each association making up their representative team.

Manly will be looking to continue their recent dominance having won 4 championships out of the last 5 years. However, they will be facing some stiff competition from the likes of North Shore, Sutherland and Penrith, who are all looking strong ahead of the Championship start.  

There will be a special buzz around this weekend as we welcome back some of our Aussie Spirit heroes. Last week Australia, made history yet again by qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The team went unbeaten over the last week defeating, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong and China. Taylah Tsitsikronis and Rachel Lack will all be looking to continue the success of last week with Penrith, North Shore respectively, along with Shannon Keevers of Sutherland

Their task won’t be easy though, with Manly looking to win their fourth consecutive state championship, additionally, they will have one of their stars from the Aussie Spirit back, Michelle Cox to help strengthen their squad.

North shore will also be tough to beat however, with them also welcoming back an Aussie Spirit stars back into their squads. Tahli Moore will be looking to help their team win their first State Championship in 4 years.

It is going to be a great weekend of Softball, with the weather looking perfect for a few hits. If you have never seen a game in full flow before why not come down and check it out. Entry is free and it promises to be a great weekend for all.
