Day 3 proved to be the day of upsets at the National Championships but luckily none involved the Blue Bloods.
The Firestars had a surprisingly big win over arch rivals Queensland Heat 14-0 then followed up with a solid win against Victoria Titans 5-1. The hits were shared across the team in both games. Extra Base hits for Rachel Lack (2 doubles and a single), Stacey Porter (double & single), Stacey McManus (double) and singles to Taylah Tsitsikronis (2), Michelle Cox (2), Tahli Moore (3), Shannon Keevers (2), Montana Kearnes, Bianca Abrahams, Tarni Stepto and Jenna Trim.
The NSW U17 Women continued undefeated with wins against Victoria 9 – 1 and SA 7 – 0. The Women chalked up 10 hits against Victoria and then had another 8 against SA. Extra Base hits for Mackenzie Walker (double & 2 singles), Madi Baker (2 doubles and a triple), Ryleigh Arnott (2 doubles), Keeley Lennon (triple), Emily Paull (double), Hannah MacKean (double), Caitlin Wilde (double & single) and singles to Amber Gunn (3), Jayde Jensen and Natalie Armstrong. The blues play Queensland and WA on Day 4. The women are sitting on top of the ladder after 3 days and have had only 6 runs scored against them.
The NSW U17 Men had another 2 wins in Adelaide on Day 3. Victoria proved no match for the Blues in the 5pm game going down 9-0, Jeremy Garland, Ethan Field and Patrick Beach all putting the ball over the fence. SA put up a fight against the NSW line up but in the end NSW ran out winners 15-7 with the highlights being Caden Keed with 2 Home Runs and Hayden Shaw a Home Run, a Triple and a Double. Day 3 saw all the boys bat well with extra base hits to Hayden Shaw (Home Run, Triple & Double), Ethan Field (HR & 2 singles), Caden Keed (2 Home Runs & a single), Jeremy Garland (Home Run), Patrick Beach (Home Run), Jake Gleeson (Triple & single), Elliott Kirgan (triple & double), Matthew Eder (2 doubles), Blake Hunter (triple), Blake Becquet (double & 2 singles), Jack Davies (2 singles) and singles to Zac Roberts and Alexander Ruggeri. The boys will face Queensland and WA on Day 4.
Special mention to Jack Besgrove who is a pick up player from NSW playing for SA. Jack had 2 home runs, a single and 6RBIs in the game against NSW.
All 3 teams will play Queensland and WA in their games on Day 4.
The Metro and Country Teams continue to perform well at the U15 Regional Championship in Perth. Metro Orange had 2 wins, including a win over Green 5-2 in what was reported as a great game going right down to the final innings, and a win over SA Blue 10-0. Green went down to Orange but also to Victoria 2-7. The Country Gold Team had 2 losses but put a number of runs on the board going down to Qld Flames 14-6 and SA Red 12-7. Metro Orange are sitting on top of the ladder with Metro Green sitting 3rd. 1st and 2nd face off on Day 4 with Orange playing Qld Fire and 3rd placed Green will play 4th placed WA Gold in what will be 2 very interesting games.
