Day 1 of the Open Men’s Australian Championship in Canberra saw the NSW Men face ACT in their only game of the day. ACT scored 2 runs in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd to take a 4-0 lead then in the 4th Kyle Johnson hit a homerun scoring 2 runs to extend the ACT 89ers lead to 6 where it stayed until the game was called after NSW couldn’t score in the top of the 7th. NSW only managed 3 hits for the game, James Todhunter (2 singles) and Hayden Mathews (double). NSW used 3 pitchers and only had 4 hits against them. Metro Orange only played 1 game going down to Victoria 5-2.
Metro Green got up 4-3 against ACT then faced Country Gold in their 2nd game. The Country Boys came out on fire and defeated Green 16-2.
Play continues on Monday with the Open Men taking on WA then Qld.
Metro Orange have a game against Qld Thunder whilst Metro Green also play Qld Thunder, Country Gold come up against the strong Qld Storm and SA.
